YOU ARE THE MAP…

I like to think of life like a vacation to somewhere new. We were all given maps of this unknown land when we were born, and throughout our childhood and teenage years people gave us advice on where to go and what to do once we arrive. Truly nothing can prepare us for this new place that is adulthood, and everyone navigates it differently. Some people are so overwhelmed by this new place that they find the first comfortable spot and spend the entirety of their vacation there.

Others take all the advice they received before the trip and decide exactly where they want to go. They research the best ways to get to these ambitious destinations and spend their whole vacation working towards them. Some of them finally reach their destinations just to realize there was a spot right next to where they started that they would’ve liked better. If there’s one thing that I think has contributed to the growth of my present self the most, it would be my ability to continue moving without becoming attached to any destination. I am choosing to spend my vacation exploring this new land, wandering in a constant state of wonder due to the undeniable beauty of this new place. I’m happy to say that so far, what I’ve found on my vacation is a plethora of unexpected places that are way better than any I could’ve set out looking for.

Too often I believe we try to force things in life. Whether that’s a career path, a relationship, or a lifestyle, our brain will trick us into thinking it knows more about our happiness than our intuition, the piece of us directly connected to source. This will lead to us working our entire lives towards careers that don’t fulfil us. It will lead to us changing ourselves to attract the partner we thought we want just to find out that they don’t actually make us happy. Living like this might lead to some pretty impressive accomplishments, but if these accomplishments don’t actually give our lives the purpose we set out to find then what was the point?

This is why my main goal for 2023 is to prepare myself for all the blessings that are going to flow into my life this year. Every single one of us has an abundance of blessings arriving daily, but only those that are ready to receive these blessing can trade them for happiness. We must make empty space in our lives if we are anticipating new things. We must make silence in our life if we want to hear all the wonderful secrets the universe constantly whispers in our ear. We must prepare for everything we’ve asked for if we ever want to receive it.
